One of the first things I started buying for the baby were books. Joe and I really enjoyed reading as children and it would be nice if we could pass on this trait. Among the first group I brought home was Sandol Stoddard Warburg's I Like You. It's hard not to feel all warm and fuzzy when flipping through the pages of this book. I hope our baby loves it as much as I do, and I also hope to read it to him/her many, many times over. Maybe I'll start tonight... since it is Valentine's Day and all.

I like you because I don't know why but
Everything that happens
Is nicer with you I can't remember when I didn't like you
It must have been lonesome then

  2. when i was 18 i worked at borders. i was cleaning up the kids section one evening and this was sitting out. i sat down and read the whole thing and was floored.

i immediately bought 3 copies; one for my best friend, one for my future husband, and one for myself.

years later i ended up giving the one for my future husband to a boyfriend. which i dont regret. we didnt marry but he is still one of my best friends.

    anyways.

BEST. BOOK. EVER. i guess the baby can have my copy. ;)
