We have gotten a few emails about baby books, so I thought I might address it on the ole blog. While I was pregnant a friend thoughtfully (and to what I can imagine, painstakingly) searched out the above book by Nouveaudesignson etsy. Many of you know, it is HARD to find a simple, modern, and well designed baby book. This one is hand made and completely lovely. And when I had a problem with the ink I was using she was very helpful. It has some general prompts (though of course I wish they were more general, IE instead of asking the name of the Doctor who delivered the baby, maybe just who delivered the baby?) It also has a lot of blank pages for you to get creative with stories, images and more. Now I just need to find the time to keep it updated. Oops!

I just saw the one below on coos & ahhs and thought it might be a fun supplement too.

Do you have any baby books that you suggest?

  1. Can I just tell you how much I love you guys? This blog has been such a great resource for me during the last eight months. (I'm now 36 1/2 weeks preggo.) I was looking for a baby book and while the first one is gorgeous (as are the options from Rag and Bone and Binth), we've been spending so much cash, that they were all out of our price range right now. I just ordered "This is Your Book" and I think it will be perfect. Thanks!

  2. i agree with giovanna, really simple, good-quality baby books are so dang expensive! we were gifted, your birthday book, while pregnant with our first child. it is much less daunting than a baby book and it grows with your child past infancy. i love it.

  3. What a beautiful book and a fab blog. My baby girl Eva is now ten months old and I'm still keeping a scrappy notebook and searching for something beautiful/justifying cost (must complete before she's one!) Found this on my www. travels too http://binth.com/Products/Binth+Baby+Book+in+Brown?category=binth%20baby%20book&subCategory=binth%20baby%20book lovely x

  5. It's very simple (and cheap!) but I've enjoyed Nikki McClure's "The First 1000 Days: A Baby Journal." It's gender-neutral, and lacks that gawdawful saccharine quality that characterizes too many baby products. The prompts are very vague, allowing for more creativity in recording what you, as the parent, thinks is most important to commit to posterity. That said, Declan is ten-months-old now, and I think I'm still filling in the six-month section...

Just thought I'd throw an affordable option into the mix!

  7. I have that Nikki Mcclure journal, too. As a non-journaler, I find it really manageable. It's affordable and not "too precious".

  8. It's a bit less "designery" but I love love love this baby book and box - the box has a drawer you can put stuff in, and envelopes and stickers too (so far it has Gus' hospital tag, his tiny first pair of socks and the cards he received at birth). (I'm a book designer and I actually designed a baby book, feel a bit guilty I bought this one instead of using my own, hehe)

  9. I searched and searched before finding my son's baby book on Etsy as well. It is from Kobie Moore's shop ednamae. These baby books are modern and simple, just what I was looking for too. The baby books come ready to go but there are lots of options to customize with a nameplate, additional photo sleeves, a beautiful folder for keepsakes, etc. I love the teeth chart and the prompts are really thoughtful.
