Happy New Year, guys! I want to make sure I'm starting this year out right for my little Cheech, so I'm looking to enroll her in some classes as a great way to help release some of her curious energy. She's big on listening to music, and I really want to get her into a music class pronto. Unfortunately, she's developed the oddest nap schedule and seems to be sleeping when most other babies are awake, and therefore, I'm having trouble finding a class that will work for her. I'm hoping things will get better once she moves down to one nap a day.

Anywho, I'd love to try a variety of different classes, but other than Gymboree, I don't really know where or what to look for. Did or have any of you tried baby classes for your little ones? What did you think? Were there any that you and your baby absolutely loved?

  1. Lots of people like Music Together classes - the songs get kinda repetitive and annoying (for adults) but if she's into music/movement/etc, then she should like them! And they seem very tolerant of little babes crawling/walking/moving all over the place - the worst are classes where instructors expect that little babies will just sit still and not make a sound. Um, no.

  2. Swimming class!!! We are starting our second session (10 weeks each) next week. It is fun for the babies and the adults. I also did baby massage class but Alice is too "hyper" for that kind of stuff. Baby yoga was great but she is too old now. I will try music class but maybe next fall. Happy new year xox

  3. I was also going to recommend Music Together. My niece has been going to their classes ever since she was Cheech's age and she loves them!

  4. We go to a sing-a-long thing at the library which is cool (free and drop-in!) that is geared towards babies. There are a few drop-in things in our area that are great, because I don't feel bad about wasting money if he naps through it or I can't get my act together in time. I definitely agree with Claudia on swimming class though, they are awesome and fun for everyone.

  6. Hannah took Stella to music classes. Ask her when she gets back...I think Hannah (and Stella) really enjoyed it.

  7. My little guy is 8 months and likes playing the drums so I am thinking of taking him to the World Beat Center. They have a drum class for 6 months and up on Tuesdays.

  9. you guys are awesome!

@randi kindermusik is actually the classs i was looking in to, but the times just aren't working out for us.

i looked into music together, too, but kindmusik is almost half the price. and by the class descriptions, I couldn't really tell the difference.

i've REALLY wanted to start lucia on swim classes, but am having trouble finding an indoor pool in my area that isn't the Y. i don't have a Y membership, and am not sure i want to just for their pool. :l
