Abel & the mummy dogs!

It is Halloween time! Love this holiday. But- bed time for us is so early, do we bother celebrating this year? We had a REALLY cute costume in mind, but I realized there is no way to make it warm enough, so that is kind of out the window. Hmmmm. Encinitas pumpkin lane sounds fun, but it is a bit of a drive for us, if Henry won't get anything out of it. It starts at 5, so we could go for about an hour before Henry hits the wall.

I wonder, those of you with little ones Hank + Lucy's age(ish) what are your plans? Or with older ones, did you do anything on Halloweens past?

  1. Mine will be 6 months by Halloween and I'm planning to dress him up and take him to a (daytime) party at a mom/baby group I go to. We're not trick-or-treating or doing any other nighttime stuff because he wouldn't get anything out (other than get super overtired and irate).

  2. Planning to make Juno an owl costume (maybe I will have time?:) and take her to see her daddy at his school. I want to take her to the fire hall for the Halloween party (where I went as a kid!) but she's too little, I think, and it's pretty much bedtime. Maybe next year?

  3. honestly, i've always hated halloween. but now with cheech, i am super excited for it. i'm planning on dressing her up and having a normal day. she won't remember/understand anything anyway, so it's really just for my amusement. :)

  4. We're not doing anything this year, and most likely not next year either. This year she's simply too young (thought I absolutely want to see Cheech in her costume).

I think by next year the faces/masks/costumes will be recognizable but too scary and intense for such a wee one. We'll probably steer clear for a while. But that doesn't mean I won't eat enough candy for all of us ;)

  5. I already got Wolf a costume and when he tried it on, you could tell he knew it was something exciting. or perhaps he was just in a really good mood. we got invited to a party but Halloween is on MONDAY {wth?!} so I doubt we'll go. we'll probably just dress up and pass out candy to the trick-o-treaters that we get and take some photos of Wolf in his costume. I kinda think, even if they won't remember it, it'll still be fun to show them the pictures from their first Halloween once they're all grown up.

  6. Hi, Jamie. I happened upon your blog recently and realized we'd met a month or so ago at the NP farmer's market - we had both our boys (mine's Elias) in Ergos and joked about what a big ol' baby beast Henry was. Since you're looking for something Halloween-ish that's close to home, Suzie's Farm in IB is throwing a "Pumpkinpalooza" tomorrow from 2-6:00 with pick-your-own pumpkins, a sunflower maze, live music, and the MIHO truck. We went on a really great tour of Suzie's a couple of weeks ago so I have pretty high expectations for tomorrow. Maybe we'll see you all there :)

  8. I did! We started going to Wednesday's group a couple of months ago and were even there when Henry was recently brought in for the babywearing demonstration. And of course we almost always end up at the Station afterward for beer and a burger.
