Um, is it me, or does 2 month old Lucia look like she ate 1 month old Lucia? When she went in for her 2 month check-up, she was measuring in the 90th percentile for height, and 96th percentile for weight. Seeing as Joe and I are NOWHERE NEAR the 90s in both of those categories (seriously, you can even ask Jamie), we were a little concerned. But, no worries were in order; her doctor informed us that she's following the natural curve of her birth weight, so everything is right on track. It's pretty hilarious, though... with all that hair and all that extra chub, she's looking more like a 6 month old than a 2 month old.

It's been quite a ride these past four weeks; here are a few things she's taken to:

1. Thumb sucking. Truth be told, before she was born I was not a fan of it. I thought it was gross and kind of bratty. My, how tables have turned, because *now* it might be the most adorable baby habit EVER.

2. Turning her head. Ever since she discovered she could turn it from side to side, she's been doing it constantly and with great enthusiasm.

3. Pulling her hair. She's found her hair and the sooner she learns that pulling it only makes her cry, the better off we'll all be.

and

4. Being obsessed with our fruitless fig tree. We have this tree. Every morning, she sits in her swing and has a 20-30 minute conversation with the tree. It's the cutest f*cking thing I've ever seen.

(AND, this is what happens when I decide to take our photo session about 10 seconds longer than I knew I should have.)

  2. She looks perfectly sweet and squishy!!

Ps: I'm sure the fig tree will grow with leaps and bounds since it's being shown so much attention and love everyday ;-)

  3. Ahhhh! I love her!! The last bit about taking the photos is spot on. My sister jokes that my niece thinks I have a gigantic black snout because I'm always standing above her with my camera. But how can you resist with such cuties? Great photos, lady!

  6. that is too funny! My second boy was exactly the same. A big, big baby by 2 months, and still is at 2 1/2! My husband and I are both small people so people are always baffled by it. But they are so darn cute with the rolls.

Lucia is a doll. Enjoy every minute of her and her sweet tree conversations.

  8. Totally with you on the thumb sucking. It's easily the most adorable thing I've ever seen, now that my child does it. He looks so sweet when he's just about to fall asleep with his little thumb in his mouth. Though his thumb has seen better days.

They are just too much for words, those babies. Aren't they?

  9. Oh and hey James, don't worry. Dashiell never sat ANYWHERE for 30 minutes. Except the ergo or moby while he was asleep and I was walking.

It does get better. I promise.

  10. cheech is weird like that. the only time she wants to be held continuously is at night. i usually hold her for around two hours before she finally falls asleep. but during the day, she almost seems to get annoyed if we hold her for too long. she needs her personal space; she gets it from her mom. ;)

  11. she is the absolute cutest!

@Celia I was like that when I was a baby - it made my mom so sad but I just didn't really like to be held. Now I'm a grown-up and am still sort of anti-snuggling. I love me some space.

  12. If it makes you feel better, I was also the 90% percentile for height and weight till 6th grade. And then... well... I'm a size six now, and it's my biggest EVER. So who only knows. In the meantime, adorable.
